Les Petites Heures
The full title is Les Petites Heures du Jean, Duc de Berry, the book of hours that Jean de Berry commissioned around 1372. Initially, the miniaturist Jean Le Noir was responsible for illustrating the book, but after his death, Jacquemart de Hesdin took over the job. Around 1390 this book of hours was completed, after other artists (among whom was a book illuminator who was known as pseudo-Jacquemart) contributed miniatures to the project. After Petites Heures was completed, Jean de Berry commissioned the Limbourg brothers to add a miniature to the book. |
